Nearly monochromatic, these three prints speak through restraint—subtle variations in tone, light, and atmosphere that reward sustained attention. Each evokes a sense of subtle mystery and measured beauty. Framed as a cohesive set in mahogany with UV-protective acrylic, the collection is fully archival and ready to hang as a complete expression.

THE WANDER SERIES

The Wander Series - a visual photographic journal

Wander is an ongoing journal and visual exploration of Portland neighborhoods and beyond. All these images appear on the Wander pages which can also be viewed inside a lightbox for easy browsing. As this project evolves, select images from the series will be offered as limited or open edition prints.

The Wander Series is not born of any specific place or time. It’s more my state of mind, of being. An openness to what I see and feel around me. I respond by taking a picture. Always the first question: what do I see here that pulls me in?

This act is a form of acknowledgement, a decision to take action. I want to photograph this subject. How best to proceed? Do I need to move in closer? What do I want to include, often even more, (as possible) to exclude from my frame— so much of it rests on instinct.

That’s roughly my shooting process with my iPhone camera. To make these images presentable for public viewing—on the web or as finished prints—requires a personal blend of craft, aesthetic and time during the editing process. I am dabbling in raw magic to conjure up the heavens. And, If I’m lucky, I leave behind some enduring trace, these images become: vestiges of a life once lived.
