White Sky and Black Trees

$50$250

Stuck in freeway traffic, suddenly I came to a halt. Looking out my door window, I saw these trees with the white fog and brown hills with an unobstructed view. Quickly, I rolled my window down and shot the picture. I’m taking less time composing and setting up shots relying exclusively on my phone camera which is always at my side. It’s a subtle image, I really like the white sky against the distinct trees and brush.

Description

I spend considerable time with an image in Photoshop to get the tonal values that I seek and where needed to emphasis or de-emphasize specific parts of the image. On a standard camera, depth of field, motion and light are more directly controllable. On a cellphone camera, there are ways to simulate this control but I’m more interested in getting what I’m after in post production, trusting my gut more on what I initially choose to shoot.
