Down The Backside Road From Hana – Archival Pigment Print

Price range: $65 through $175

The road to Hana in Maui is famous for its natural beauty and rugged climb to the top. But the backside down from Hana is the road the natives use and it’s quite a thrill. Much of road is unpaved and also includes many hairpin turns and narrow stone bridges. There are views of houses on one side and sheer views of lava fields and ocean on the other. Rebecca was so frightened she would not let me drive and she (quite literally) screamed most of the way down. This shot was taken toward the end near sunset (6:30pm) and I had stuck my camera out the window to get the shot. The vehicle in front was our guide and my only regret as we descended was I could not stop and get out of the car to take pictures.
